Holiday resort of Los Cristianos

Situated in the south of Tenerife close to its neighbour Las
Americas the resort of Los Cristianos boasts a wide sandy
beach which is protected by a jetty, making it safe and very
popular with families. The crescent shaped bay is nearly 500
metres long with a wide range of water sports on offer and even
a nudist beach at the far end of the resort. The resort is more
sophisticated than its neighbour Las Americas and has a large
expat community. Originally an old fishing town Los Cristianos
now has a number of high-rise apartment complexes and shopping
precincts. Los Cristianos nightlife is far more relaxed than
its neighbour but there are plenty of family bars and restaurants
all within walking distance from the resort centre.
Los Cristianos has a pleasant relaxed atmosphere down on the
front where people gather to eat and watch the world go by.
It is possible to walk from the front of Los Cristianos all
the way along the promenade to Las Americas and beyond (known
as the walk) this will take you 20 minutes if you´re in
a hurry or longer if you couldn´t care less.
In the centre of Los Cristianos there is an abundance of bars
and street cafes serving local and international cuisine. The
old quaint catholic church stands in the town square and commands
its precense be noticed. Surrounding the church are small streets
running off in different directions with shopping facilities
offering everything from hardware to designer clothes.
From its harbour in Los Cristianos' port it is possible to
catch the ferry and hydrofoil to the islands of La Gomera, La
Palma and El Hierro with departures at different times of the
day.
A complete contrast to its neighbour Los Cristianos is more
a resort for the slower pace of life yet close enough to get
into Las Americas should you decide to let you hair down and
only 15 minutes drive from the airport.
Ideal for families or mature couples wanting to
relax
